Junior team
The Junior Swim Team is the beginning level for the Aurora Tsunami Swim Team. The team is for swimmers who have a good understanding of the competitive strokes and are ready to explore the world of competitive swimming. Some of the characteristics of the junior swimmers are:
- Ages range from 7 years old to 12 years old
- Needs work on building strength and endurance
- Has understanding of the techniques in the four competitive strokes
The practices will teach skills and techniques that are not taught in lessons or CARA and will be the starting blocks of the swimmer's career. The skills taught will bring improvement in the following areas:
- Swimming technique
- Increased core strength
- Starts and turns
- Overall speed
- Endurance
In order to participate on the junior team we require that all swimmers be able to do the following:
- 50 yards of front crawl
- 50 yards of back crawl
- 25 yards of breast stroke
- 25 yards of butterfly
- 100 yards of continuous swimming of your choice
