Level 2 – Fundamental Skills

Level 2 is for swimmers who are not afraid of the water, but is unable to move across the water without touching the bottom. Some of the characteristics of a Level 2 swimmer include:
1) Are uncomfortable doing a front float or back float without support
2) Unable to hold breath underwater for more then a couple of seconds
3) Has no forward motion from arm or leg motion
The main objective of Level 2 is to:
1) Float on their front and back without support for 5 to 10 seconds comfortably
2) Hold breath underwater for a 5 to 10 seconds and to do bobs
3) Create forward motion using arms and legs on front (15 feet) and back (10 feet)
4) Jump into water from side and swim back to wall
5) Roll from front to back and back to front without support
