Level 5 – Stroke Refinement
Level 5 (COA: Intermediate)
Level 5 is for swimmers who understand the basics of each stroke and need work on building strength and endurance. At this point the instructor will spend more time on swimming distance while improving the swimmer’s technique. The swimmer will also learn the timing for the arms and legs on sidestroke. Some of the characteristics of a Level 5 swimmer are:
1) Be able to swim all of the strokes (except sidestroke) at a smooth pace without being
extremely tired
2) Still needs minor work on technical parts of each stroke
The main objective of Level 5 is to:
1) Work on the technical part of the strokes taught in the previous levels
2) Improve the strength of the swimmer while increasing the number of lengths the swimmer
can do without stopping
